Gender Inclusive Housing

The Office of Residence Life and Housing Operations expanded its gender-inclusive housing opportunities to include all undergraduate students beginning in the 2014-15 academic year. The new housing policy allows all undergraduate students who are eligible for housing to request a roommate and/or suitemate of any sex or gender.

Like any roommate request, only matched roommate requests will be honored.

Please, note:

  • Students participating in the gender-inclusive housing program must contact Housing Operations Staff and will be assigned to a room in either suite-style housing or apartment-style housing.
  • If a student does not request gender-inclusive housing, the student will be assigned a same-sex (as recorded with the university) roommate or roommates.

This new policy helps create an environment that is inclusive of all students regardless of sex and gender. More information on this policy can be found here.
