Garden Theme Hall
About the Garden Theme Hall: The Garden Theme Hall is located in the Clairmont Tower. The Faculty in Residence along with the 15-28 students who live in this hall will support the soon-to-be established Clairmont Educational Garden. In addition to tending the garden, students will participate in activities related to gardening and sustainability more generally. We will invite guest speakers, embark upon field trips to urban farms, organize student bike rides, and hold discussions about food, gardens, and farming. We will consider local and global perspectives on these topics, and the goal is to assemble a diverse garden team, with both domestic and international students. Fulfilling the mission of Educational Gardens at Emory, we will also endeavor to share our gardening experiences with other members of the Clairmont Campus community. In the beginning of the academic year, we will create a schedule for all students in the theme hall, ensuring that responsibilities for maintaining the garden are distributed evenly and fairly. Garden Theme Hall members will decide together what to plant and collectively, we will enjoy the fruits of our communal efforts. Prior gardening experience is certainly valuable, though not required for applicants.
Who Can Apply?: The Clairmont Garden Theme Hall is open ONLY to rising third- and fourth-year students at Emory (College, Business, Nursing, etc.), who will not be studying abroad for 2018-19 Academic Year. All students of diverse beliefs, cultures, and fields of study are encouraged to apply.
