Educational Priority

To prepare students to be responsible global citizens.

“The concept of ‘global citizenship’ -- a term that has many definitions but in general implies things like an attitude of empathy and openness, an appreciation of diversity and multiculturalism, an awareness of global interconnectedness, and a sense of civic obligation to do one’s part to address global problems -- has very much been absorbed into the ethos of American universities.” - Elizabeth Redden, InsideHigherEd.com, 1/10/2017.

Learning Goals

Learning goals help us operationalize our educational priority. They represent different themes for residential education. The goals guide our efforts so that students will:

  • Gain a sense of belonging.
  • Practice individual & social responsibility.
  • Develop a greater understanding of self and others.
  • Engage intellectually outside the classroom.
